Pets are Family. It's As Simple As That

My Publicist has been exceptional. I work with a lot of agency partners in my work at Directorie from agencies of records, to PR firms, to research firms, etc. and their energy, passion behind my book, and confidence in me made such a difference in how I felt putting myself out into the world. She goes the extra mile in her communications and adjusts to meet client needs and is just a wonderful human being. This work was not just business, but my personal life and self showing up in the world in a new way and I can’t imagine having done it without them by my side.

THE BIG 100: The New World of Super-Aging (Diversion Books)

For my debut book, I almost didn’t engage an outside publicist — after a 40-year career as an international journalist, I figured I had plenty of media contacts.

I’m so glad I didn’t go it alone. Smith Publicity’s skills, savvy, and vast industry connections generated an astonishing amount of buzz around my book that neither I nor my publisher could have achieved by ourselves. Smith was fantastic at teasing out unique and compelling coverage angles, and their work on my behalf resulted in dozens of national and regional print articles and broadcast and podcast appearances. It’s been months since their campaign ended and I’m still reaping the benefits in terms of media interest and A-list publicity.
For me, no book campaign will ever be complete without Smith Publicity!

“I want to let you know how delightful and rewarding it has been working with Smith Publicity. As the saying goes, ‘this isn’t my first rodeo’ when working with publicists. The Conversation Guide: How to Skillfully Communicate, Set boundaries, and Be Understood

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Smith Publicity to promote my first self-help book. As a new author, it was great to be in capable, experienced hands. They communicated very well during every step of the process. I highly recommend Shelby, Courtney and everyone at Smith!

Second Half: Surviving Loss and Finding Magic in the Missing
After writing a book that was very personal, very hard, heartbreaking and amazing, I knew I wanted to give it to people who cared deeply about the story and my hopes for the book as I sent it out into the world.  When you write a book that’s very personal, it can be so scary as you start out.  How do you best share your message and your story in a way that honors the message and helps people? From the start, the team at Smith publicity listened carefully to each concern and hope I had for the book. We discussed at length what I wanted and how I saw this partnership working.  And then the results were amazing. My publicist connected me with so many amazing podcast hosts, National TV spots and many other important journalist and authors.  The book began to spread and the message around my husband’s story, our journey through his grief, and the lessons we have learned continue to be shared through so many different mediums. The partnership I had with Smith Publicity was wonderful and I am so grateful I chose  their team.

Beyond Piggy Banks and Lemonade Stands: How to Teach Young Kids About Finance (and They’re Never Too Young)

I worked with Smith Publicity for the publicity around my first book. I did a ton of research trying to find a publicist. I started with a list of 20 and interviewed four agencies in person. I am so happy with my choice to work with Smith Publicity. I just can’t say enough about this group. Janet Shapiro was my publicist, and was phenomenal in all aspects. She genuinely cares about her clients and was 100% invested in my success. She helped me navigate every aspect of the process, many of which were way above and beyond the project scope.

And my team really delivered. They have fantastic relationships and access; I got amazing exposure through radio, TV, articles, podcasts. As a bonus, the whole team is just lovely and Janet will be a lifelong friend.

The Big Ordeal: Understanding and Managing the Psychological Turmoil of Cancer

As a first-time author, I wasn’t sure what I could expect a publicist to do for me, but thankfully, Smith Publicity was on the list of firms to consider. From the very first conversation I knew that I wanted to work with Marissa and Joelle. They listened attentively and quickly understood my material and what I wanted to share. They were thoughtful and creative in how to position me and the book, and diligent in using our time together to maximize coverage across a range of media. I was so thankful for their responsiveness, their expertise, their guidance every step of the way. And they were such a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, I was blown away with the results. I would recommend Smith Publicity to any authors looking for media exposure.

After a brief interruption to earn an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, Cynthia further honed these skills over 30 years of management consulting, where her success continued to rely on her ability to jump into new topics, pull sensitive information out of sometimes reluctant interviewees, digest specialized knowledge, and draft a persuasive narrative that turned complex findings into easy-to-digest guidance.

The Terrible Unlikelihood of Our Being Here

My publicist was a gem and hiring Smith again is definitely in my plans. Not only was she incredibly hardworking and persistent, I was just awed by her creativity in thinking through how my particular skills, expertise, and experience might fit with current issues and curiosities out there. I would not have thought of grabbing onto certain news headlines or trends, but my publicist’s creative ideas for articles and pitches really created the stories that found traction. Thanks tons!

I am grateful for the results of this campaign at Smith Publicity. A primary association is Forbes.com, several podcasts, and many Thought Leader writing opportunities that are suited to my skill set and personality. My publicist was always there, in a timely fashion, to promote my work creatively and to guide me effectively.

Before my publication date, I looked at several ad agencies and found Smith Publicity to be the most professional, responsive, and enthusiastic, with a clear plan, great follow-through, and a real sense that I was part of a team that wanted only terrific success for my book. My publicist provided regular feedback, even late at night, and made me feel that I was in good hands from start to finish. I highly recommend this agency.

The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From And For My Girlfriends

As a new unknown author, I diligently researched the reputation of book publicity firms to launch my campaign. The reputation and recommendations consistently pointed to Smith Publicity. From the first contact, I was impressed by the responsiveness to my questions, their knowledge of the industry, and overall professionalism. The team at  Smith  never made me feel like someone who never sold a book, which I was at  the time  I contacted them. They treated me as if I were an already successful and established author.

I could not have asked for a better experience than what I received by hiring Smith Publicity to promote my book. The response I’ve  received  on the campaign was better than I could have imagined. I received national television and radio interviews, podcast  interviews, and magazine and blog guest spots. Smith Publicity covered  every media genre and a vast variety of markets to promote my book. The Smith Publicity representative that I  worked with made  sure that I understood every step of the process, never too busy to take my questions and available to schedule a call if I needed. Brave New Medicine: A Doctor's Unconventional Path to Healing Her Autoimmune Illness

As a first time author with a small platform, I knew I’d need support from an outside publicist. My publisher recommended Smith Publicity, and I was so glad for the connection. From the outset, their team was professional, punctual, and clear. I was assigned a team who landed me countless opportunities for guest blogs, expert medical advice, podcast interviews, and book reviews. My book was about healing communities, people, and the earth; and I felt the team at Smith pulling for me personally as well as professionally. I highly recommend Smith Publicity.

We Were an Island; the Maine Life of Art and Nan Kellam

Highly energetic and committed, our Smith Publicity publicist was both a terrific person and an amazing resource.  He was ever thoughtful, caring and supportive of a fledgling author and I greatly appreciate all Smith Publicity did to bring We Were an Island to a broader audience.

In 1949 Art and Nan Kellam set off to find their own isolated piece of paradise and eventually settled on a 550-acre island known as Placentia, near Mount Desert Island, Maine. They would live there year round for nearly forty years. In this beautifully illustrated volume, Peter P. Blanchard III re-creates the story of their island years. Blanchard graduated from Princeton University in 1974 with a degree in Art History. Additionally, he holds Master’s degrees in Science Education from Columbia University’s Teacher’s College (1979) and Forestry Science from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (1986).

Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life

We approached Smith Publicity to help us promote our nonfiction book, Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life. Although we had already booked some self-aquired PR gigs in the past, we didn’t know what to expect from a real PR agency. We thought a publicist might get us a small spike in book sales and a few new readers at our website. Boy were we wrong!

Instead, our publicist radically exceeded our expectations. Not only did she book interviews for us on dozens of television and radio programs in the U.S. and Canada but also newspaper interviews with USA Today, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, and others. She was incredibly pleasant and easy to work with. She stayed in close contact with us and made sure we had everything we needed to be successful. Successful we were: not only did our book sales experience a nice increase, but our web traffic is at an all-time high.

What's Great About...I-95

In a short six-week campaign, Smith Publicity managed to attract attention for my book from over 100 media sources. Could I have done all this myself, without Smith? Simply put, no. They seemed to be personally invested in my book and in me. And it paid off.

So Grows the Tree–Creating an Ethical Will: The Legacy of Your Beliefs and Values, Life Lessons and Hopes for the Future

As an author and publisher, one is never quite sure which marketing dollars will hit the mark and offer the highest return.  I can say—without question—that hiring Smith Publicity to promote me and my book was one of the best decisions we made as a publisher. The high quality media exposure has been non-stop and our representative, and they made sure that all of our potential target audiences get the opportunity to know about So Grows the Tree. As we look forward to the publication of our next book, Smith Publicity will no doubt continue to be a member of our team.

The Homeowner’s Guide to Greatness: How to Handle Natural Disasters, Design Dilemmas and Various Infestations Like A Champ

To say that it was a pleasure working with Smith Publicity in promoting my first book is a vast understatement. After my publicist’s many ‘great news’ e-mails indicating that she’d secured more excellent press in the form of radio interviews, newspaper interviews, and bylines, I emitted many celebratory WOO-HOOs, and may have even done some dancing in the street. My publicist clearly loves what she does: this came through to her clients and I am sure this comes through to all of her media contacts. She truly made this nerve-wracking process a lot more fun and during the time we worked together my confidence in this realm grew tenfold.

Did Smith follow through on everything they promised, including the thorough weekly reports, the final summary report including contacts? YES. Would I use them again for the next book? Most definitely. Would I recommend them to other writers? Absolutely.  The press I received and the experience I gained during this time is already catapulting me into the next stage of my writing career.

Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: How to Break Your Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle

My publicist worked very hard on my behalf and communicated regularly with me. She had great hook ideas and was open and responsive to my input. The client needs to do their part—such as preparation and availability—but they’ll do theirs!

Live A Life You Love: 7 Steps to a Healthier, Happier, More Passionate You

My publicist at Smith Publicity worked tirelessly round the clock on my campaign, with excellent results. At one point, we had more interview requests from network television affiliates around the country than we could possibly handle! Her approach to my campaign was passionate and personal; she knew my book inside out and was a joy to work with. Thank you so much, Smith Publicity!

The Art of the Visit: Being the Perfect Host; Becoming the Perfect Guest

Not only do they do a fantastic job in promoting, but encompass those qualities which in today’s world is to be sought after and applauded. From Working to Wisdom: The Adventures and Dreams of Older Americans

Five stars and AAA+++ for Smith Publicity. Everyone I worked with at Smith was thoroughly professional and completely committed to designing and executing a successful campaign for my book. My publicist did an absolutely fantastic job getting an overwhelming number of appearances on major market television and nationwide radio shows as well as multiple reviews and feature stories about the book. In a twelve-week campaign, she produced over 180 high quality inquiries about the book and some of the folks featured in it. This number will likely grow as there are still a substantial number of active leads outstanding.

I could barely keep up; the results were far beyond my expectations. I whole-heartedly and unqualifiedly recommend Smith Publicity. Just can’t say enough good things about them.

Brendan Hare, author of From Working to Wisdom: The Adventures and Dreams of Older Americans

Brendan Hare is a recent retiree. He lives outside Boston with his wife, near their three grown children. Mr. Hare worked as a teacher, a college economics instructor, and for over forty years, as an attorney. For over twenty years, he built and guided a sizeable national practice, with clients drawn from some of the largest corporations in America. Few experiences in his career have been as rewarding as writing From Working to Wisdom. He spent two years traveling the country, meeting new people, and listening to them discuss their lives and thoughts about growing older. Writing this book changed him profoundly. He hopes it will have a similar impact on readers.

Renovate, Remodel... Relax!

We researched over several months for the PR company we felt would best represent our book: Renovate, Remodel….Relax! When we interviewed Smith Publicity, there seemed to be a connection that fit well with our needs. They were open with their approach, sent sample progress reports for our review and provided references to contact. We were introduced to our publicist through a conference call and immediately, we knew we made the right choice. She was enthusiastic and positive with a can-do approach and seemed genuinely interested in our topic and delved in with ideas and her approach in contacting the media. Throughout the extended contract, we collaborated on ideas and angles to present to the media. Our publicist was open to suggestions and responded promptly to questions. She continually represented us professionally and we always felt we were part of the same team. We are very pleased with our choices and look forward to continued involvement.

Live Long, Die Short

Working with Smith Publicity was the best decision I made after my book was published. You can tell when you’re in the hands of professionals. My publicist was the Tom Brady of the media world. Thin From Within: The Powerful Self-Coaching Program for Permanent Weight Loss

From start to finish, I found Smith Publicity offered me the attention, interest, and support that is so vital when your book is released. It’s hard to imagine that others can be just as passionate as you when it comes to your book, but the publicists at Smith always kept pace with my energy and enthusiasm. From the many targeted pitches and diligent follow-ups, I was kept quite busy with print, radio, and TV engagements.

HAMPTON WEEKENDS: Easy Menus for Causal Entertaining All Year Round

My experience with Smith Publicity has been a good one. I can’t thank my publicist enough for the passion and commitment she brings to her job. Her belief in me as an author together with her persistence has given me faith in publicists. She has been fantastic. Publicity doesn’t come easy to me. But for the sake of a higher moral ground, the recipient for any of my profits Hospital for Special Surgery, The Wright Prosthetic Fund, I have persevered. Thanks all.

Blooming into Mindfulness: How the Universe Used a Garden, Cancer, and Carpools to Teach Me that Calm Is the New Happy

I am indebted to Smith Publicity for helping me promote my book and gain exposure beyond what I could ever have imagined as a first time, self-published author. The first surprise was that Smith was willing to work within my limited budget by coming up with creative ways to share some of the administrative tasks, allowing my publicist and her capable partner to provide as much value added as possible during our short campaign. The press release they drafted for me reflected a spot-on read of my book, skillfully consolidating multi-layered themes into a concise marketing package.

My publicist’s enthusiasm and passion were infectious. She cared as much about the success of my book launch as I did. The results were measurable: my three-week campaign led to several interviews with print media (including a request for an expert opinion in The Chicago Tribune), an invitation to be a speaker at a conference and workshop instructor, a TV appearance, and placement of my work in high traffic online sites. Another publicist even said to me, ‘I’m so impressed with the results you’ve gotten with Smith!’

The Thinking Girl's Guide to The Right Guy

We are so happy with our choice to work with Smith Publicity to get the word out about our book. Our first contact, Sarah Gilbert was realistic in setting expectations about what opportunities and challenges Smith would face marketing a book almost a year past its publication date. We are thrilled with the work that our publicist did. She was incredibly creative, professional, motivated, and generous, which led to exceptional results in sourcing interviews, articles with our book featured, and book reviews. Smith Publicity has our highest recommendation!

Fabulous Faces: From Motivation to Transformation Through Facial Plastic Surgery

Through my publishing support staff here in Toronto, Smith Publicity was recommended to me. During our three-month campaign they carried out all of the duties and performed responsibly in complete compliance with our original agreement. Through my contact with Smith Publicity, our team also received weekly updates as to all of the media outlets that had been contacted and the status of the relationship. Smith Publicity was successful in obtaining a number of radio interviews and print media placements.

Deeper Dating: How to Drop the Games of Seduction and Discover the Power of Intimacy

Every once the rarest while, one encounters a company that’s both powerfully effective, and a delight to work with. I’ve had a good amount of media coverage in the past, so I’m quite demanding when it comes to publicity. My publicist was nothing short of extraordinary. Her work directly resulted in a veritable flood of print, radio and television interviews, new and positive relationships with top-tier national media—I’m talking dream media!—and my becoming a nationally syndicated columnist. I simply can’t speak highly enough of Smith publicity’s professionalism, passion, and of my publicist’s dead-on skill.

Impromptu Friday Nights: A Guide to Supper Clubs

Toxic Home/Conscious Home: A Mindful Approach to Wellness at Home

As an unknown first time author with a very small platform, I was doubtful I would receive any significant media attention. I researched several publishing options and literary publicists and decided to work with Smith Publicity.  I found my publicist to be a true professional. In the four months we worked together, she was able to secure me 14 TV spots including major broadcast channels in New York City, Boston, and Chicago. She got my bylines featured in many print and online articles, including Healthline and Reader’s Digest.  It was a very busy book launch, but I can say that working with Smith Publicity made the process a wonderful experience. My publicist was encouraging, enthusiastic, sensible, resourceful, hard working, and available!  In short, I highly recommend Smith Publicity.

Uncharted Waters: Romance, Adventure, and Advocacy on the Great Lakes

It is one thing to write a book. It is another thing to wade into the unfamiliar waters of publicity. The team at Smith Publicity made it easy. Their thoroughness, professionalism, enthusiasm, network of relationships with television, radio, and magazine personnel, and hand-holding throughout the process exceeded my greatest expectations! Working together, we accomplished the unimaginable. For me, Smith Publicity was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And every author deserves a bit of gold.

Designing for Wellness

Working with Smith Publicity absolutely exceeded my expectations. Between the creative strategies they developed for me as a first time author to the level of detail they provided about their weekly outreach efforts, Smith definitely ranks as one the most effective and reliable partners I’ve had in 22 years of running my business. We’re still seeing results, even after our campaign ended!

I’ve spent most of my career touring in a band. One of the most important lessons I’ve had to learn is the importance of a good, reliable team. When I published my memoir, Smith Publicity became an important part of that team, ensuring that I’d not only get unbelievable press coverage on the book, but also all of my events as I traveled across the country as well. I am grateful for their wisdom and help in helping others learn more about my story. It’s been a season since our campaign ended and I am still getting inquiries and reviews that they initiated – that’s the power of good, persistent publicity.”

As a first-time author, I enthusiastically recommend Smith Publicity. From my first phone call with Kellie to my final phone call with my publicist, Smith Publicity was a pleasure to work with, organized, detail-oriented, friendly, responsive, and professional. I found that carefully completing the introductory questionnaire was an excellent way to consider my goals/target audience/talking points, etc.  I was perfectly matched with someone who shared a passion for my book’s topic. These are clearly experts in their field.

My publicist successfully identified target markets for my book that I had not even considered. Through her hard work, I have enjoyed the opportunity to do radio interviews, video podcasts, and my work has been featured on websites with a national audience. I would not have been able to secure this level of media placement on my own, especially given that I already have another full-time job. Even when two-month campaign ended, my publicist continued to pass along media requests that were previously initiated. I would not hesitate to recommend Smith Publicity to any author.

My publicist was truly amazing and secured some awesome media hits. As a first time author, I was blown away by her efforts. She was so lovely to help me through the process as well. She gave me a tremendous amount of confidence in preparing for media interviews and pulling together various articles.

Humor That Works: The Missing Skill for Success and Happiness at Work

The custom approach the Smith team takes is what sets them apart, especially for a topic like humor in the workplace. The only thing better than the results they drive is how easy they are to work with (even if it means ending a sentence with a preposition).

At the End of the Road: One Man’s Journey from Chaos to Clarity

Working with Smith Publicity was truly a blessing. Our publicist  guided us through our publicity campaign for At the End of the Road: One Man’s Journey from Chaos to Clarity with the utmost professionalism and enthusiasm for this memoir and its related ministry. We highly recommend Smith Publicity to established and first-time authors. Our team remained available for questions or concerns throughout the campaign. We appreciated their attentiveness to the small details of a book campaign that resulted in multiple radio and TV interviews and appearances. We were thrilled with the results and exposure experienced through working with Smith Publicity.

The Loyalist Team: How Trust, Candor, and Authenticity Create Great Organizations

We worked with Smith Publicity for nine months following the publication of our first book. I cannot say enough about my publicist and the quality of her work. She is everything you would want in a partner – passionate, hard-working, high-energy, and organized. Additionally, she has obviously built strong relationships with so many people at numerous publications. Her success rate in landing us interviews, podcasts, and articles was outstanding. Our publicist was one of those rare people who actually follows through on all her commitments. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with our book publicity!

Raise the Bar, Change the Game

I used the services of Smith Publicity for two months to promote my new book Raise the Bar, Change the Game with no idea what would happen. I was allocated two publicists to front my campaign. Well, in the first week I started to get countless offers for interviews and bylines and in short order I had so many offers I kept getting confused with what I had to do and had to get my PA to manage my diary! Both of them managed to get the essential messages across to the media so it was easy for me to follow what was needed from me. I am looking forward to using them again to promote my audiobook. Highly recommended.

I’m in Here Somewhere

Outstanding! That word seems small compared to the effort put out by the awesome team assigned to my project. I’d searched tirelessly to find a legitimate publicity company that would deliver on their proposal. I’d been burned by another publicity company, so you can imagine my trepidation. However, I knew the memoir I’d written for Chad Dean from My 600 LB Life would require more than I could deliver on getting the word out. With fingers crossed, I signed a 6 week contract and hoped for the best. Imagine my surprise when Smith shot out of the gate like a fiesty thoroughbred horse and won the Triple Crown. Seriously! When past experience has you expecting just some obscure online blog posts, promises of a vast media blitz that peters out in 2 days, and days-dragging email turnaround, the reality of Smith simply blew my doors off. The Today Show, New York Post, PeopleIn Touch Weekly, Men’s Health, and countless radio and blog interviews kept me grinning the entire time. Every day was a new adventure and achievement on deliverables of the highest magnitude.

WWI CRUSADERS

Smith Publicity  gave me and my book media reach that I never could have achieved on my own. Working with my nonfiction history book, their efforts generated positive replies from the New York Times, the London Daily MailAmerican Heritage Magazine, more than 30 radio stations, and other media outlets.Using the old adage about getting horses to water, Smith readily states it cannot guarantee book sales (horses to drink), but the company certainly knows how to get the horses to YOUR water.

Birth of a Cemetery: Forest Lawn Memorial-Park

My Smith publicist was creative in finding opportunities to promote a niche book. Her attention to detail, great follow up, and communication skills made the process smooth and effective.

Surviving Myself

I am a first-time author and was very new to the PR world so was quite apprehensive to start a campaign. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Smith. They were extremely diligent to answer the many, many questions I had at every stage. They took a great deal of effort to ensure I worked with the right publicist who was passionate about my book and my goals in addition to making sure that our working styles meshed together well. It didn’t take long for me to know I was in good hands. The team was great at always keeping me up to date as well as explaining the rationale and reasons for doing things (which helped me to understand the world of PR). Right away, Smith felt like a trusted partner to me and I truly feel like they worked very hard to make my goals a reality. They were able to secure placements on the TODAY show, Marilyn Denis show, and many other TV shows as well as numerous publications such as Thrive Global. I am thrilled with all the diverse media coverage Smith was able to get for me. I would recommend Smith PR to any author in a heartbeat!

There are so many wonderful things I can say about Smith Publicity and my publicist. First and foremost, they delivered in a big way. In the first month of my campaign, my travel memoir Musing Mediterranean received so many media hits, I knew, without a doubt, that I wanted to sign on for a second month. On my behalf, my publicist successfully landed television, radio and podcasts interviews as well as multiple byline articles.I couldn’t have been happier with the results. Weekly phone calls and email updates kept me fully apprised of each bit of outreach. For me, communication is key and Emma was always reachable and quick to respond. She answered all of my questions and was equally professional and personable. The level of service at Smith surpassed my expectations. To say that I am impressed is an understatement. The Smith philosophy to follow-through on post-campaign activity and provide everything I could possibly need to continue their amazing work on my own is incredibly integrous and supportive. Thank you Smith Publicity!

Born Fanatic: My Life in the Grip of the NFL

Writing my first book was one thing. Promoting it was something else altogether, not unlike sending my child on to the stage alone for the first time. The entire Smith team led me through the process with confidence and compassion. Hard working and well connected, they exceeded my expectations in every way. I now have contacts, a media library and a foundation on which to build as an author. I could not have done any of this with Smith colleagues. Smith is THE book publicist for my money.

Smith Publicity made the process of launching my book easy, fun and successful. I highly recommend Smith Publicity to anyone looking for a collection of fine people who place service and support as their core tenets.

The Mafia Made Easy‬: The Anatomy and Culture of La Cosa Nostra

The publicists at Smith Publicity are consummate publicity professionals. As a result of their dynamic approach, they arranged 50 successful radio interviews to help promote my novel. Media interest was phenomenal. The City Section of the New York Times ran a great feature article on me and my book. Because of their tireless efforts, my sales ranking at Amazon.com was at one point in the top 20 of all books, and sales everywhere were vigorous. I recommend them highly.

We worked with Smith on several projects and found their staff organized in planning campaigns and effective in implementing them. The people at Smith are friendly, knowledgeable, and conscientious. I would recommend the company to other publishers.

Dare To Be Extraordinary:A Collection of Positive Life Lessons from African American Fathers

As a first-time author I wasn’t quite sure what to expect once my co-author Leslie Gordon and I completed our book.  Thankfully, the team at Smith Publicity  helped us develop an effective PR campaign that allowed us to successfully launch and promote our book across the county and in multiple media platforms. My publicist was insightful, responsive and professional in her efforts to advocate on our behalf. I greatly appreciate all her efforts and dedication to both the book and our campaign to “bend the curve” of father-absent homes in our community.

Effective book marketing is increasingly rare in our media-flooded world, so a team like Smith Publicity, Inc. is essential for a publisher of any size. We—Heliotrope Books in New York City—have worked with Smith since 2017. One of those authors appeared on Megyn Kelly’s TODAY Show, and was featured, with extensive photographs, in the Daily Mail; another author spoke on CNN Market Watch—all thanks to Smith. As an indie press, we could never have achieved such reach on our own and are extremely grateful we had experts to guide us.

The Other Side of The Ice: One Family’s Treacherous Journey Negotiating the Northwest Passage

Before coming to Smith Publicity I had worked with two other publicists, but to no avail. They were expensive and I very quickly fell between the cracks.  On my own I had reached a dead end with my book, The Other Side of The Ice. I found Smith and from the moment I got in touch with them I felt the aspect of “family.” I can’t say enough good about Smith; they are indeed family, were open to all of my suggestions and they give the wonderful feeling that you are their only client! I won’t hesitate to use them again for my upcoming projects.

Sprague Theobald, author of The Other Side of The Ice: One Family’s Treacherous Journey Negotiating the Northwest Passage

For several years, he worked for an NBC affiliate both in front of and behind the camera producing segments and news stories of regional interest, while working on his independent productions. His documentary, “The Other Side of The Ice” enjoyed great reception in New York, San Francisco, and other major cities. It  won an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Documentaries – Topical.”

I was delighted with Smith Publicity. You can’t go wrong by choosing Smith to represent you.

Joseph Trigoboff, author of Rumble in Brooklyn

Joseph Trigoboff grew up in East New York, Brooklyn. The Bone Orchard, his first crime novel, was listed by the New York Times as one of the best crime novels of the year; Barnes & Noble chose it for its Discover Great Writers program, and it was a selection of The Book of the Month Club. Joe lives with his wife and two children in New York City.

Dickey Chapelle Under Fire: Photographs by the First American Female War Correspondent Killed in Action

Because I had experience as a publicist, I looked very carefully at book publicity firms before I selected Smith Publicity. I did so because of the professionalism exhibited by the Smith team. First, Corinne Moulder was a consummate business development professional who represented the company and her colleagues extremely well. I was very impressed with my publicists who developed top notch pitch materials and followed through with persistence and dedication in trying to sell a book featuring war photography, which can be very tough to do, particularly during a presidential election year. They went above and beyond the call of duty in trying to get Dickey Chapelle the attention and recognition her life and work deserved. I’m very grateful for their hard work and perseverance. They were also a lot of fun to work with.

John Garofolo, author of Dickey Chapelle Under Fire: Photographs by the First American Female War Correspondent Killed in Action

John Garofolo is a screenwriter, college professor and former entertainment industry advertising and marketing executive. A veteran of the Iraq War, Garofolo provided security and escorted members of the international media into Iraq during the initial phase of the war, and is currently a Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, on active duty assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Falling into Place

It was tremendous to work with  Smith Publicity! Thank you for every call, booking, email, post-pin-tweet, radio interview, newspaper article, TV appearance, and review!  There could not have been a happier conclusion than learning our book won the “Best New Author” award at the Christian Book Awards. What a way to top off the last few months.

Hattie Kauffman, author of Falling into Place

Hattie Kauffman’s gripping memoir, Falling into Place, is being compared to the best seller The Glass Castle.  Hattie unflinchingly examines a childhood that has readers glued to the book from first page to last.  With three decades of network television experience, including decade-long stints in New York and Los Angeles, Hattie is the first Native American to file a report on a network news broadcast.  She has reported on many of the major stories of the last quarter century and interviewed thousands of people.

I could not be happier with the work done by Smith Publicity. The quality of the media contacts, the number and quality of the interviews, and the number of PR and publishing opportunities they found for me were excellent. They did such a great job that I’m actually happy to see my campaign come to an end because I need a rest! Before the campaign started, I didn’t really know what to expect or how much work would be required on my part. It is a testament to the power of their media contacts and expertise in their field that I had so many requests for articles, interviews, Q&As, podcasts, etc. (I believe there were 15 on the first day), that I could barely stand it and found it hard to fulfill all of the opportunities they found for me and also get my regular work done. These are all really good things. I feel that I have certainly gotten my money’s worth. The book sold well, and my name and reputation are well established. I happily recommend Smith Publicity to anyone who may be considering publicity services.

The Condo Bible: Everything You Must Know Before and After Buying a Condo

I approached Smith Publicity to help us with promotion of our newly published The Condo Bible book. All through our engagement, our publicist produced many interviews with print media and radio and was sending us a regular reports on weekly basis. It was amazing when she connected us with The Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch, for which I became a regular contributor. Working with the Smith Publicity was definitely a great experience.

Nonflict: The Art of Everyday Peacemaking

After much research we chose Smith Publicity for the promotion of our first book, Nonflict: The Art of Everyday Peacemaking. Our initial contact with them gave us the confidence to proceed. From the start, our publicist’s professionalism, patience and enthusiasm were all apparent. Communication was excellent as were the results of our three month initial campaign which included North America initially and English language international for a month. Media attention included local and national TV, radio and many writing opportunities. We have nothing but praise and recommend Smith Publicity without reservation.

The Secret Life of a Weight-Obsessed Woman

I always appreciated how generous the team at Smith Publicity was with their time and knowledge before my actual contract started.  Their effort on my behalf was very encouraging and gave me confidence in Smith from the get-go. What can I say about Janet, who was the primary person I worked with? She is without a doubt the most supportive, competent and reliable person I have worked with in the entire process of writing my book. She is an asset to Smith that goes beyond measure. My questions were answered promptly and fully and she was tenacious in follow up and reaching out to new connections. Mallory was organized and professional and also, like Janet, explained the big and small picture of the publishing process. Warm regards and a big group hug to Smith Publicity. You three are keepers and Smith is lucky to have you all!

The Outsider's Guide to UFOs

When you’ve worked for a while with run-of-the-mill outfits, Smith Publicity comes as a breath of fresh air. In a world of largely cynical adherence to carefully worded contracts this is a firm that not only delivers what it says it will deliver (and with a smile on its face) but delivers more! My experience with its staff was a pleasure from start to finish. They were efficient and empathic, hard-working and proactive. They conjured up some truly great interviews, magazine articles, and podcasts which far exceeded my expectations. Summing up? A refreshingly honest and collaborative corporate ethic, professional, personable, and highly effective. What more could you wish?

James T. Abbott, author of The Outsider's Guide to UFOs

The Outsider’s Guide to UFOs is for anyone for whom “the UFO thing” is enduringly fascinating but bafflingly complex. It cuts out all the smoke and mirrors and focuses on core questions like what are UFOs, how long have they been around, and are they hoaxes, figments of the imagination, or real?

Author James Abbott is a highly experienced researcher who has spent years studying this timeless debate as an outsider. With no vested interests, he presents all sides of the story without fear or favor.

CAST: Art and Objects Made Using Humanity’s Most Transformational Process

Smith Publicity made such a difference in the launch of our book, CAST: Art and Objects Made Using Humanity’s Most Transformational Process.  We definitely knew we didn’t know how to promote our book effectively. We knew we needed people who knew what they were doing.

Smith Publicity did not disappoint. Their experience, contacts, and tireless efforts on our behalf really paid off. They landed dozens of media placements for our book and it even ended up being rated the #1 “Most Beautiful Art Coffee Table Book of 2017” by Artnet! We were blown away! (correction: we’re still blown away!) This was a direct result of their pitching our book to the right people.

The weekly update on CAST was demonstrable evidence of their efforts and it was a great roadmap for us to update the news page on our website and to develop our newsletters and social media campaigns. Our weekly call was also really helpful.  We trusted our publicists’ sage advice implicitly and they never let us down.

We can’t say enough good things about working with Smith Publicity – they are smart, creative, tenacious, wise, responsive, generous of spirit, and we loved every minute of our campaign with them. They shared in our joy for stories that landed and our disappointment in those that didn’t; we always had the sense that they genuinely cared about us and about our book’s success.

We wouldn’t trade our time with Smith for anything – this is what professionalism looks like and we are thrilled with the results they were able to get for our book.

Eating Well to Win

I was very impressed by how vested my publicists were in the success of my first book. They believed in my project from the beginning. Smith Publicity took pride in answering every question and pitching me to an incredible media list. I will forever be grateful to Smith Publicity for the amount of press and exposure Eating Well to Win received.

Atheism Kills

This is a commendation for Smith Publicity and my publicist. From day one, my publicist was “on it.” She listened to me and my team, heard our ideas, and incorporated them into the overall plan. She came up with all sorts of contacts in the media world, radio world, and otherwise. I was thoroughly impressed by her dedication and professionalism. The relationship succeeded in the mission, and then some.

Smith Publicity is a very professional company that provided the structure and the guidance to launch my book. The End of Suffering

I have nothing but great things to say about Smith Publicity, their professionalism and brand is without peer. But the most remarkable part of the organization to me was my publicist. She was a consummate professional, whose warm personality made my time with Smith truly delightful. She fought for me every step of the way; she did her best to move heaven and earth in order for me to get every opportunity at publicity possible. Having her support made the good days better and the bad days easier. She surpassed my expectations both as a publicist and as a human being. Her excellence landed me several prominent opportunities both in Canada and the United States and helped launch my career as a speaker as well as author. Smith Publicity believed in me-and that made all the difference.

There is nothing more anxiety-provoking, especially to a first-time author, than to try and figure out how to navigate the totally unknown and sometimes choppy waters of getting the word out for your new book. Securing book reviews and media coverage is a unique tactical challenge. I was lucky enough to meet the folks from Smith Publicity at just the right moment–about eight months prior to my book launch. They held my hand through the whole process as they calmly and masterfully built and then executed my campaign. It helps to have experience on your side, and the team at Smith has it. They get amazing results!

Invisible Girls: The Truth about Sexual Abuse

I was able to work with a dream team at Smith. From my first interaction with Business Development to working with my publicists I was treated with respect and a deep understanding of what was needed to launch my campaign as an author and expert. The results were excellent, being published in Ms. was a dream come true. I recommend Smith Publicity to anyone who wants to get their voice or  book out there. Professional, dependable, consistent, thorough…just a few words to describe the Smith Publicity team. My personal publicist was particularly exceptional. Aside from her unending efforts to accomplish all that was pledged in our contract, she was uplifting and inspiring throughout the campaign. She reached major national TV outlets, international media and print large and small and the results were truly rewarding. I especially loved the interviews with all media and the public responses following.

Smith Publicity followed through on everything they promised, including the thorough weekly reports and a final summary report including a complete contact list. I would ardently recommend Smith Publicity to anyone seeking professionalism, excellence and value.

Did I just write a book? A first-time author. What do I do now? Deep breath, remember to breathe. It’s ready to go… Smith Publicity kept the requests rolling in for interviews and articles. Honestly, at times it was difficult to keep up! My publicists pitched my books from so many different angles. Seriously? I didn’t realize my book said that. They’re amazing. Intelligent Disobedience: Doing Right When What You're Told to Do Is Wrong

After doing due diligence I selected Smith Publicity to assist with promoting the ideas in my newest book, Intelligent DisobedienceThey have not disappointed. Though I came to Smith late in the book promotion process they have effectively taken my message and brought it into the light of day in most of the major print outlets that my potential audience reads. We are now working collaboratively to bring the message further afield to new audiences who will also benefit from its ideas. I am very appreciative of their professionalism and enthusiasm.

The Old Boys: The American Elite and the Origins of the CIA

I worked closely with Smith Publicity for over five months. They without a doubt bring more energy, literary penetration and commercial imagination to the intricate business of getting the word out about a book than anybody I’ve ever dealt with. Best of all, they have remained patient and approachable and jumped right in whenever the moment required. Strongly recommended.

Bare Feet, Iron Will ~ Stories from the Other Side of Vietnam's Battlefield

Smith Publicity proved invaluable, designing a packaging profile that resulted in a much broader media appeal. The success of that effort was reflected by the numerous radio, television and magazine interviews – both locally and nationally – that were generated. Throughout the effort, I remained impressed by their professionalism, their weekly reports detailing specific progress made and their meticulous attention to detail. As committed as I was to running my own marketing race, after engaging Smith Publicity I found they set an even faster pace!

Although the Smith people worked for our publisher, The Key Publishing House, and not for me personally, as an author I was impressed by their efforts to keep authors closely involved in her PR activity. The organization of Smith’s publicity service, their ability to reach relevant media and thorough targeting of appropriate audiences was also very impressive. Many thanks.

ObamaCare Survival Guide: The Affordable Care Act and What it Means for You and Your Healthcare

Smith Publicity was a tremendous resource and a key driver in the successful marketing of my book. They landed solid placement in local, regional, and national media, giving us terrific reach and exposure. My book hit No. 21 on Amazon’s Top 100 Best-Selling Books, and topped out at the No. 1 spot in three sub-categories.

My publicist provided constant updates on her efforts and she also made a personal effort to be sure everyone was aware of the strategies she was executing. Overall, I also must say she was a dream to work with. Any author would be lucky to have Smith Publicity in their corner.

What Color is Your Money? Your Personalized Roadmap to Business Success

As a first time author, I struggled to navigate this new arena of writing and publishing. I seemed to get everything but the publicity part. Well, the confusion ended when I met the excellent team at Smith Publicity. I never thought it was possible to sit in my house, pay a reasonable fee while someone as pleasant and hardworking as my Smith publicist worked almost 24/7 to open big doors for me. There was hardly a closing time as she responded to questions as soon as I asked them regardless of what day or time it was. I definitely recommend the Smith Publicity team and credit them for the amazing work they did with my book.

Cure Your Democracy: The Infection, Spread and Treatment of Contagious Opinions/The Gelwick Faxes

I came to Smith after being disappointed with results from an Internet focused publicity agency. Within the first week my publicist had me scheduled to be interviewed on radio stations across the country and an article written by me circulated on news websites including the Huffington Post. This kind of publicity is only what we writers dream about!

My publicist was in constant contact with me and followed up every week with reports of her efforts. The result is the publicity Smith obtained for my book was a terrific success! I highly recommend them to anyone seeking quality exposure for their book!

Punished for Purpose

PEOPLE Magazine, Steve Harvey, Ricki Lake, CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC… and too many more to mention! Thank you so much Smith Publicity for your energy and enthusiasm in getting our story out there! I had spent three years paying publicists. I had a lot of interviews with small radio Internet stations–not on the actual radio. My last publicist I paid for two years and was able to land one good news story. When I hired Smith all that changed! They hit the ground running! Smith had us on radio across the U.S.–NPR stations within a short time and a two-page feature in PEOPLE magazine – to mention only a few of the phenomenal runs. Thank you Smith Publicity for all the dedication and hard work!

Legacy of Rescue: A Daughter’s Tribute

It was my distinct pleasure to work with Smith Publicity.  With their genuine interest, support, and diligence, they enabled me to get my book and messages out to the public more widely than I expected.  They are consummate professionals, from my business development associate who in a supportive and insightful way did the initial intake, to my publicist who with intelligence, creativity, and tenacity, opened doors I never imagined possible.

Their extensive Author Questionnaire is so well designed that it helped me further clarify my goals and identify and articulate the themes of my book and talking points to emphasize. My publicist’s clear understanding and appreciation of my book and me resulted in my being asked to give lots of interesting radio interviews as well as articles for a variety of publications, including a Huffington Post article that ended up “going viral” and contributed to securing additional speaking engagements.

I whole-heartedly recommend Smith Publicity and look forward to doing another campaign with them for my next book.

15 Ways to Zap a Bully

I just wanted to let you know how delighted I was to be a client of Smith Publicity. John Grisham once said he found it much easier to write books than to sell them, and after a sluggish year of trying to sell my book on my own, I wholeheartedly agree with him. Then, the tide turned! In less than two months my publicist created an avalanche of media attention including 35 radio interviews and a few print interviews. And that was just the beginning. She wisely suggested I write an article detailing steps parents can take toward becoming their child’s bully coach. When I did the article was quickly picked up by a syndicated columnist and literally spread across the print media in the U.S.

Is it any wonder I’m thrilled I put my book and my career in the very capable hands of Smith Publicity? I would recommend them to anyone!

The Aftermath of Rock ‘n’ Roll

I am extremely happy with the results of my publicity campaign with Smith Publicity.  My publicist was incredibly efficient and helpful.  She was sensitive to my needs to remain anonymous, publishing under a pseudonym for personal reasons.  Her weekly updates were organized and on-time. She arranged numerous radio interviews and placed my articles on several on-line magazines and web sites.

My two articles on The Huffington Post attracted the attention of a producer from ABC News 20/20, and helped me negotiate with the producers to ensure that my interview would be performed using my pseudonym. I couldn’t be more pleased with my campaign with Smith Publicity.  As a first-time and self-published author, the amount of press I received was far above and beyond what I ever expected!

Noelle Andrews, author of The Aftermath of Rock ‘n’ Roll

Dr. Noelle R. Andrews is a radiologist in the Midwest. Before meeting her least-favorite ex-husband, her life was stable and satisfying. Beauty in the Age of Sleaze

Tremendous exposure in a short period of time. The day after I signed with Smith Publicity I was booked for my first radio interview and the bookings were nearly non-stop from that point on. Nice folks to work with.

Dealing with Addiction: Why the 20th Century Was Wrong

Smith Publicity has put me on the map! Working with my publicist was a great experience. Enthusiasm and dedication were apparent from the start. She was confronted by a challenging task: connect with media on behalf of a radical intellectual who identifies not only as ‘PhD,’ but also as ‘crackhead.’ She and Smith never once disappointed me, and she taught me a lot. I’m a smart guy, I know talent when I see it. In six short weeks her efforts dwarfed what I had been able to accomplish in several months–and I happen to be in the communication business myself. I am rode a wave of attention from all the right people, and have Smith Publicity to thank for it.

Will I Ever Be the Same Again? Transforming the Face of ECT (Shock Therapy)

Smith Publicity is a ‘rock star’ in the world of publicity. My inbox was constantly populated with opportunities to create a buzz around my book. Radio, TV, and print interviews were a daily occurrence—requests for me to write articles were frequently added into the mix. At the end of my campaign, Smith handed over a comprehensive list of all contacts for future reach outs. Smith Publicity is one class act!

Why Physicians Die By Suicide

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Smith Publicity. My publicist was always on top of things, dependable and full of enthusiasm. The past months have been very exciting and rewarding. 438 Days: An Extraordinary True Story of Survival at Sea

I have nothing but praise for the team at Smith Publicity. It was amazing to watch the book sales rise with the number of media appearances generated. There were a whole range of media they were able to motivate ranging from MSNBC to special Christmas catalogues. I can heartily recommend the services not only for first time authors but for experienced writers as well. Furthermore, the service was extremely flexible and can be used for more punctual events – like book-to-movie options – and not only the typical 4-6 week campaign. I am very pleased to have hired Smith PR for the ongoing promotion of 438 Days.

8 Steps to Reverse Your PCOS: A Proven Program to Reset Your Hormones, Repair Your Metabolism, and Restore Your Fertility

My publicist at Smith Publicity was amazing – she was highly experienced and I could see this shining through in absolutely everything she did. She was as diligent and passionate about my book as she would have been about her own—so much so that we had to do another large print run far sooner than I had anticipated. As soon as I started working with my publicist, so many opportunities were sent my way and much reader interest was generated, resulting in many more women with the condition being helped! I’ll always be grateful to the entire team at Smith Publicity!

Laura and Me

Smith Publicity did much more than get my book in front of media who could promote it. They developed me as an author and an authority on my topic. Today, I feel like a professional, not an amateur and I project myself with strength and confidence. Book sales steadily increased, but of greater importance to me is that the book got into the hands of people who would benefit from reading it. And my publicist was amazing. She took me from a hobby to a career, and from a dream to a reality. There is no way to put a price tag on that.

Diary Of A Pissed Off Flight Attendant

I was in search of a firm that specializes in self-published authors and Smith Publicity came highly recommended from a friend who is also a client of the firm. For three months prior to the release of my book, Diary Of A Pissed Off Flight Attendant, I was in close contact with Smith Publicity’s Director of Business Development, Corinne Moulder, who, through her immense knowledge and professionalism, helped assuage my fears of being a first time author.

Upon the release of my book, I was paired with my actual publicist and I was very pleased to have worked with her. She made me feel very welcome and although I know that she had other clients, she always made me feel as if I was her number one priority. Due to her tireless efforts, I had more exposure than I could handle and I am positive that my publicist and is in the upper echelons of her peers.

My book is truly a success and I owe a great big thanks to the team at Smith Publicity for all of their efforts. I will definitely work with them again if I ever write another book.

Thank you to Smith Publicity for your assistance in publicizing our book, The Sarcastic Lens: An Ordinary Couple’s Photographic Journey through the Animal Kingdom. Our publicist was terrific. The Political Bible of Humorous Quotations from American Politics

I greatly enjoyed working with Smith Publicity. During my first book campaign, I secured a position as a Huffington Post blogger.  During my second campaign, I was invited to appear on more than eighty radio shows to promote my book.  Each day I would hear about more interviews coming my way. I continue to maintain relations with many of the program hosts and appear regularly to discus both American Politics and my latest Huffington Post blog entries. I would  highly recommend Smith Publicity.

The Bravest Guy

Smith Publicity has been the best. For a first-time author such as myself, they have been a perfect fit: energetic, invested in my project, candid, prompt, flexible, extremely courteous, great value, willing to answer any questions — I could easily go on. Simply put, Smith Publicity has been passionate about the success of The Bravest Guy!

Yet through extraordinary determination and persistence, this highly decorated combat veteran overcame seemingly impossible odds to become a state and national leader in providing opportunities for those with visions loss. This is Don Wedewer’s story. For more information visit www.bravestguy.com

From the start of our campaign, the Smith Team was creative, committed, and responsive to the needs of our project. The working relationship could not have been more positive, and they were always willing to go the extra mile. I would recommend Smith Publicity to anyone, without hesitation.

Mighty Spice: Fast, Fresh and Vibrant Dishes Using No More Than 5 Spices for Each Recipe (Duncan Baird Publishers)

Smith Publicity had a very limited time to launch my book, Mighty Spice Cookbook, and arrange a book tour for me. They absolutely nailed it, with multiple television interviews, including The Daily Buzz, New Day Northwest, Fox 5 Morning News San Diego, Sonoran Living and ABC7 News Chicago, etc. They also secured for me radio slots and my book in front of a huge amount of print and online media. Amazing, good job guys!

John Gregory Smith, author of Mighty Spice: Fast, Fresh and Vibrant Dishes Using No More Than 5 Spices for Each Recipe (Duncan Baird Publishers)

Smith, from the UK, has travelled all over the world in search of the perfect recipes visiting such far off locales as South East Asia, India, Sri Lanka, the Middle East and Mexico. We were delighted with the work that Smith Publicity and our publicist did to promote our book. They worked tirelessly to arrange an author tour across the U.S., securing excellent TV coverage and widespread reviews. The detailed weekly reports were very informative and kept us fully involved in the campaign. Smith fully deserves its fantastic reputation and we wholeheartedly recommend their services.

The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook

My publicist was an absolute joy to work with. I was impressed with her efficiency and professionalism, which garnered over 40 radio interviews over a two-week period as well as two TV appearances. That’s besides the dozens and dozens of newspaper and online articles that helped to spike sales of my book. Even though our campaign was over, my publicist continued to forward requests for review copies and interviews–and even a request from Steven Forbes for a signed copy! I also heard again from Smith, when they notified me that Smith displayed my book at the Frankfurt Book Fair (again, despite the end of the campaign), which drew interest from a large foreign publisher. I am fortunate to have had Smith Publicity at my side to promote my book.

Domestic Commando: A Stay at Home (R)evolution

My experience with Smith Publicity was a whirlwind that is still generating hits. My publicist did a great job taking advantage of current events and creating opportunities for specialized articles featuring my by-line. I have redone my website to include an ‘Appearances’ page where I have listed the media placements that I am aware of. Because some of the articles were picked up by news services, I have received notes from as far away as the Philippines and Malaysia! Thanks for a great job and a wonderful experience.

One Woman in a Hundred

I am so grateful I decided to use Smith Publicity to bring attention to my book. I could not have done it myself. An author can work for years perfecting the contents of a book, but it can vanish almost without a trace once it gets on the market unless it gets noticed, and getting it noticed is a whole other enterprise, one that takes special knowledge and tools. Thank heavens Smith Publicity, and especially the publicist who worked with me, and knew all the right steps to take to launch my bookOne Woman in a Hundred, successfully and get it the attention it needs to survive and hopefully thrive in today’s competitive book world.

Mary Sue Welsh, author of One Woman in a Hundred

Mastering Positional Chess

I can readily say that my campaign was conducted in the most professional manner, was extremely well organized, and communication was excellent. My publicist always somehow managed to communicate all of the important information to us in a very timely fashion. It is absolutely remarkable to see the depth of her understanding of the book and her thoughtful approach to the publicity campaign. I am sure that my publicist learned more about chess in these two months than most people would learn in their entire lives. It is this sense of professionalism, combined with the experience of Smith Publicity, personal connections they have, and the energy and effort of the employees which go far beyond the standard duties that make a successful company–and Smith Publicity definitely deserves the utmost praise.

Life in the Wrong Lane: Why Journalists Go In When Everyone Else Wants Out

Smith Publicity spent the last three months publicizing my book Life in the Wrong Lane, and I couldn’t be more impressed with what they did. Where Hope Lives

Smith Publicity supremely exceeded my expectations. As a new author I was unsure as to even the role of a publicist but my publicist and the rest of the team were happy to explain every detail. My publicist worked more than just nine to five each day. She responded to all my questions quickly and efficiently. I felt that she understood my story and the goals of my campaign fully. She worked tirelessly and professionally and shared in the big vision for my project! I recommend Smith Publicity 150%!

Rock & Roll Alphabet

I can’t thank my publicist enough for orchestrating such a remarkable publicity campaign for my new book. From our very first conversation, it was evident that she understood my goals and intentions when creating The Rock & Roll Alphabet, and the campaign that she developed was clearly designed to reach media outlets that would best support these objectives. Her well-crafted press and interview releases yielded media coverage on radio, in national print and online publications, and in many local magazines and independent blogs. I truly appreciate the professionalism and expertise that Smith demonstrated in introducing this unique book to the public and I look forward to future campaigns and partnerships further on up the road.

Golf Sonnets

If you are thinking of hiring Smith Publicity, brace yourself: clear your calendar, free up your land line, and check your e-mail daily. These folks mean business, and you will get your money’s worth only if you are willing to work as diligently as they do in your behalf. Special mention goes to my publicist, whom I suspect never sleeps. In the six short weeks leading up to Father’s Day, her efforts drove my book, Golf Sonnets, to the top of the search engines, with Google alone returning thousands of ‘hits’ that are all mine. I could barely keep up with the dozens of positive online and print reviews, radio and television interviews, and personal appearances that she orchestrated.

I had a great experience with Smith Publicity.  I was a little reluctant to engage a publicist at first but Smith made a great proposal and followed through on everything they proposed.  Working with my publicist was a pleasure.  She was very enthusiastic about my book and very committed to getting it out to the media.  She was able to arrange interviews all over the country that really raised the profile of my book.  Overall I found the people at Smith very professional and devoted to providing a high level of personal service to all their clients.  I recommend them to anyone considering a publicist for book promotion.

True Crime in the Civil War: Cases of Murder, Treason, Counterfeiting, Massacre, Plunder & Abuse

Not only does Smith Publicity mix quality and integrity into all of their services, but they also add a third element rarely found in any service industry:  character. The Smith Publicity client isn’t just another nameless entity moving down a conveyor belt at a mass-market operation. Smith Publicity gets to know their clients in order to better market their books. The result is nothing short of spectacular. In a six-week start-up campaign, this winning formula produced tangible results that exceeded my loftiest expectations:  reviews in large, target-markets; radio interview spots with national media outlets; a front-page feature story in a major newspaper; the sale of one bylined article and widespread distribution of another. And these are just the highlights. Such results in so short a time period are remarkable, particularly when considering the lengthy lead-time most major media need to review and comment on books.  Whether you’re a first-time author with no platform or an established writer with a following, Smith Publicity will find the right way to introduce your project, and you, to the world.

When Your Centerpiece is Made of Play Doh and the Dog Has Eaten Your Crayons: A Mother's Perspective on Parenting

Thank you to Smith Publicity for taking such good care of me as a new author.  I needed a mentor as well as a publicist, my Smith publicist took the time to explain to me what she would do to create a national publicity campaign for me.  She kept me well-informed regarding the progress of the campaign and the media interest that developed for my book.  All of the members of the Smith Publicity team have been responsive to my questions.  Not only that, their responses have been timely and thorough.  When I asked for opinions, I got them, and when I needed reassurance, I got that, too.  I recommend Smith Publicity without reservation.  This group of professionals is, in a word, impressive.

Planet A: A Mother's Memoir of Autism Spectrum Disorder

Smith Publicity took me to that higher level of promotion that I was looking for. Not only did they provide opportunities to become better known in my field in print and blog sites but also in TV media. My publicist worked with me every step of the way completely understanding the point of view of my book. A big THANK YOU!

In Search of the Lost Testament of Alexander The Great

Working with Smith Publicity was a pleasant experience; the people are approachable and the working protocol and guidelines clear. Their initial questionnaire is well thought out probably the most useful I have completed. Interviews were well organized and my story ended up in surprising and unexpected places.

David Grant, author of In Search of the Lost Testament of Alexander The Great

David Grant has a Masters Degree in ancient history and wrote his thesis on Alexander The Great. He is responsible for a number of international patents stemming from ideas that set out to challenge the status quo in one way or another, life experience which gave him his tenets: always challenge accepted norms, the past is never dead, and believe what you read at your peril. Unsurprisingly, he set out to question and contest the ‘standard model’ (as he puts it) of the Macedonian king. The result is In Search of the Lost Testament of Alexander The Great. Grant now resides in London and is embarking upon his next book about Alexander’s campaigns in the Persian Empire. He is fortunate enough to be in contact with the anthropologist who heads the osteoarchaeological research at the tomb sites in ancient Macedonia, the results of which are providing unique insight into their occupants, who may well include the family of Alexander the Great.

Getting Over Not Getting In: A College Rejection Guide

My campaign with Smith Publicity was a true partnership. I felt that my publicist believed in my book and had my best interests at heart. She was timely, responsible, incorporated my edits on the press releases and answered all of my questions. The response to the campaign was great, and I made a number of valuable contacts. As a self published author, I needed a professional like my publicist to get the exposure I was unable to obtain on my own. I am very grateful to Smith Publicity for this educational and enriching experience.

Patience: A Gay Man’s Virtue

To sum up my experience with Smith Publicity with one word—AMAZING! From the moment I was handed over to my publicist, I received the utmost care and attention from all of the people at Smith. Their professionalism is second-to-none and no detail was ever left unattended. Within two weeks of starting my book promotion, I was receiving international interest, and, again, thanks to Smith, my book will be at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, in Germany. When I started down the road of book promotion, I was not sure that I needed a publicist. I thought I could do it all on my own, but could not have been more wrong. The breadth and depth of knowledge that the Smith team possesses is unsurpassed, and their contacts and connections are far superior to other publicity agencies (trust me interviewed a bunch.) From the very start my publicist hit the ground running and I have been busy writing, doing interviews, and even television spots, ever since. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the time, effort, care, and attention given to me by Smith Publicity. We started out as colleagues and we ended up as friends.  I would recommend Smith to anyone who has published a book, no matter what the genre—they can handle it.

Astrology of the 13 Signs of the Zodiac

I started looking for a company to promote my book Astrology of the 13 Signs of the Zodiac and I wanted to find the best in this field. Well I’m sure I did! Though I never thought the campaign would go in such an unpredictable way! My publicist helped me to reach radio stations and markets I could never manage to do on my own!

Vasilis Kanatas was born in Amfissa, part of the Municipality of Delphi. He is a physicist and wrote his dissertation in Astronomy & Uranography entitled “Concerning Constellations.” He is an amateur astronomer and member of the Amateur Astronomy Association “Achyrostrata” (named for an ancient word for our galaxy used by local people), based in the Delphi Municipality. He speaks English, French, German and some Italian and works in computer programming, software and social networking.

Working with Smith Publicity was an absolute pleasure. Their understanding of the nuances of our project was impressive and they creatively matched pitches with that understanding, garnering just the right types of promotion via just the right outlets. My publicist was the consummate professional; communicating often, clearly, and in a timely fashion. I always knew exactly what was expected of me and things moved forward and came to fruition as planned. I would work with Smith Publicity again any time and will definitely recommend them to my clients as well.

Earning Admission: Real Strategies for Getting into Highly Selective Colleges

The first question a self-published author asking about hiring a publicist is—is it worth the cost? I can say wholeheartedly that the answer is YES. Working with my publicist at Smith Publicity was by far the best experience of publishing my book and the best investment I have made in myself or any of my work. With publicist, I had a partner who took the time to understand what Earning Admission is, and my goals for the book. She became an expert on college admissions with me and was constantly offering new angles and hooks for media placements. We worked hand-in-hand for the entire campaign on various angles. It was a true partnership. Together, she helped me secure over 37 different media placements with national and local outlets. Working with her was inspiring and gave me the confidence to launch a brand around my book. With Smith, you will have a partner that will challenge you, enable you to grow, and build credibility with your book.

Wilber’s War: An American Family’s Journey through World War II

Smith Publicity assigned one of their staff to my project and she became my pal, obtaining and coordinating many radio interviews, press stories, and op-ed opportunities for me and my book. We had a story on Foxnews.com and almost made it into the New York Times! It was a fun experience.

Hale Bradt, author of Wilber’s War: An American Family’s Journey through World War II

Hale Bradt is a Korean War veteran and an astrophysicist retired from M.I.T. who once searched for black holes, but turned to searching for family and wartime history. He has been intrigued by the Bradt family story for more than three decades, interviewing relatives, academic and military colleagues, and a Japanese officer against whom his father fought in the Solomon Islands. His discovery of his father’s letters from the Pacific gave him an unusual basis for exploring new aspects of World War II history, as he scoured the National Archives and even visited the Pacific battle sites where his father fought; there, he found the artifacts and people his father had known and written about.

Navigating The Road of Infertility

As new authors and a new publishing company, we were wary of the overwhelming amount of choices in determining publicity for our first book. We knew we wanted to make a good impression and get a lot of press but had no idea where to start. While searching, we stumbled onto Smith Publicity. They definitely stood out as a reputable, unique company with a family feel.

When we spoke with Sophia on the phone for the first time, we truly felt as though she connected with our story. What continued were an amazing four months working with the team at Smith Publicity. Our publicist became our biggest cheerleader and advocate, working tirelessly to promote our book. It is because of Smith Publicity that we had local and international interviews along with a strong portfolio of byline articles in our publicity arsenal as we continue on in our book promotion.

The Purpose Is Profit: The Truth about Starting and Building Your Own Business

Our publisher, Greenleaf Book Group, recommended Smith Publicity, and we are so pleased we took their advice. At our first meeting with our publicist and other Smith team members, it was clear they had thoroughly read our book, The Purpose Is Profit: The Truth about Starting and Building Your Own Business. My publicist had already marked passages and quotes that she was certain would spark the interest of the media.

Shortly after that initial meeting, my publicist developed two general press releases: one that introduced the book and another setting up the authors as experts. They then wasted no time lining up media opportunities to publicize the book during the run-up to our publication date and beyond. The opportunities included byline articles placed in relevant online media publications, radio and podcast interviews for the authors, book reviews, and placement of books excerpts in major online media, such as Fortune. We were particularly pleased with a podcast interview that led to an article recommending our book in Entrepreneur.com.

After the release of The Purpose Is Profit, Smith continued to pitch media with new angles, securing us with new opportunities. We do not hesitate to recommend Smith Publicity to authors looking to raise awareness of their book.

One Voice Raised: A Triumph Over Rape

It is said that everyone has at least one book in them. Having written mine and not knowing how to get the word out, I hired Smith Publicity for help. My campaign manager was able to get me and my book exposure I could not have garnered on my own. Thanks so much for a job well done!

The Liberal Mind, The Psychological Causes of Political Madness

Smith Publicity did an outstanding job of publicizing my book. Within three months of beginning work with them I appeared on prominent radio talk shows and national TV,  my book created a ‘buzz’ in the political world, and my book sales increased so dramatically that I had to order a hurry-up second printing. Dan Smith and his associates are true professionals: skilled, committed, understanding and accessible. I recommend Smith without reservation to anyone seeking to ‘get out the message’ and increase book sales.

1536 Free Waters and Other Blackjack Endeavors—Finding Profit and Humor in Card-Counting

Smith Publicity provided exposure for my self-published book that was comparable to any traditionally published work.  When my publicist persuaded the Huffington Post to publish an article of mine, hits on my website increased exponentially.  Her dedication and enthusiasm were outstanding—information regarding the book reached audiences that I never imagined.  Thanks for the wild ride!

ACTING LIONS: Unleash Your Craft In Today’s Lightning Fast World of Film, Television and Theatre

Joining forces with Smith Publicity was the best thing that could have happened to me and my book. I initially signed up for their six week program. I was assigned wonderful publicist to head up our campaign. I was cautioned that it takes time for the initial press releases to generate responses. My publicist immediately captured my book and my voice and within weeks her press releases had me doing radio and television interviews all over the United States and Canada, and as far away as Perth Australia.

The response to these took on a snowball effect, continually growing in ways I never could have imagined. The result of these interviews was not only an increased awareness for my book Acting Lions, but also increased traffic on my websites. Both websites now come up at or near the top of relevant searches, which has not only increased book sales, but cause my studio to continually flourish and grow.  I am now being called upon to give expert commentary. This new direction in my career would near have been possible without the expert advice and collaboration with my creative team at Smith Publicity.

How: Identifying and Overcoming Blocks to Concentration, Self-Esteem and School Success with Vision Therapy

As a first time author, I found myself in an arena in which I had little to no experience. I knew that I needed PR help, but how do you decide which company is right for you? I interviewed several companies, some referred from colleagues and some from my own research. As I sifted through numerous phone calls and emails it became clear that Smith was right for me. What I looked for was a company that was responsive to me, my book and the message I wanted to get out to the media. At every turn Smith responded, securing over 30 radio interviews, blogs and articles including Parade magazine. I now have patients calling my office because they love my book and the message it presents.  I look forward to my evolution as an author with Smith by my side. Thank you Smith Publicity, great job!

View from My Window

I would like to express thanks to Smith Publicity for handling the launch of my first book. No doubt interest from the media came as much from the fabulous press release my publicist prepared! She opened doors I could never have approached alone. Within weeks, she had arranged appearances on local television shows and a book signing, and online reviews started popping up everywhere. I know that Smith is behind me one hundred percent.

The Making of a Psychologist

I am extremely pleased with Smith Publicity. The entire team was professional at all times and did everything they said they were going to do. My point person was phenomenal. She provided me with minute-to-minute updates and to my surprise, before I knew it, I was getting requests for interviews with Fox News, NBC, and other networks.

My friends and I were amazed that things were happening so fast. I felt as if I was dreaming because each day was full of excitement and I never knew what ‘s coming next. My publicist always had my best interest at heart. I am so happy I contacted Smith Publicity.

Ice Cream in the Cupboard

Signing on with Smith Publicity was the single most important event since the publishing of my book. Sales of the book increased thanks to a dynamic Smith publicist. She was able to get the book reviewed in The Huffington Post newsletter as well an appearance on Huff-Post Live, all on the same day! I also expanded my business with Smith Publicity by entering their international publicity program.

Confronting My Elephants

Smith Publicity delivers!  They get things done and are the consummate professionals!  I was burned working with past publicity companies that produced no fruit. Stumbling onto Smith Publicity was a God send.  There are no guarantees on the results, but the effort, professionalism, delivery and expertise are all at a 10+.  My assigned publicist  blew away my expectations!  I know circumstances and individual results can vary but what were the results?  How about TV interviews with Fox Cincinnati, Fox New York, NBC Denver, PBS Michigan and radio interviews in Atlanta, California and Michigan to name a few.  Bottom line, I will conduct business nowhere else but with Smith Publicity when it comes to publicity.  I truly believe I have a partner for life!

Accounting Dreams & Delusions

My publicity team at Smith hit my campaign out of the park. This was my first book and I didn’t really know what kind of results to expect. My main publicist worked relentlessly to get me more opportunities for interviews and byline articles than I ever thought we would achieve. And the addition of the account manager brought the campaign even more focus! From their efforts, I was featured in Fortune.com and Investor’s Business Daily along with countless other outlets. I would 100% recommend Smith Publicity if you need to get the word out about your book, your expertise and your brand!

The Payoff Principle: Discover the 3 Secrets for Getting What You Want Out of Life and Work

When researching possible publicity companies for my new book, The Payoff Principle: Discover the 3 Secrets for Getting What You Want Out of Life and Work, I interviewed representatives from several companies and received their proposals. The quality of the interview and the proposal from Smith Publicity immediately impressed me with its professionalism and personalization. And I know I made the right choice the moment we started working together. My publicists was not only filled with great publicity ideas but they made it happen. My work has been featured in more high quality, high exposure, targeted publications and interviews than I ever expected. In fact, they’ve gotten me so many requests for articles and podcasts that it has been difficult to do all of them, which is a WONDERFUL problem. I have every confidence in Smith Publicity and advise authors to hire them as well.

Cairo Unzipped

I want to say that the service provided to me by Smith Publicity were the best I have seen. They were complete, easy to understand, very timely and most importantly produced a good number of radio and TV interviews. I sometime wonder how my publicist did that? What did she say about me that has made me so popular? I’m so handsome, I’m so well groomed, I’m so rich…What was it? Whatever it was, I accept it. Whatever it was, I say ‘thank you’ and I wouldn’t hesitate to sign up again with the Smith.

A Meaning For Danny

I’d like to say what a pleasure it was to work with Smith Publicity. It brought me new and unexpected contacts, and gave my book, A Meaning for Danny, a far wider audience than I ever could have reached by myself! I felt there was great enthusiasm from everyone and it has been a really valuable experience!

She is known primarily as an artist, and is the Founder and Director of the Society for Art of Imagination, which has members from all over the world. Yo Miz!

Yesterday, in conversation with a neighbor, after describing my appearance on PBS, many interviews on national radio talk shows, major blogs and print outlets, she asked me who published my book, Yo Miz! When I explained that I self published, she scratched her head. ‘Then how did you get all that media attention?’ Simple, I told her. I have a great publicist: Erin MacDonald-Birnbaum of Smith Publicity. Erin is a gem. Smart, focused, meticulous, and savvy. She hit the ground running from day one. As it was my first experience as an author and self publisher, Erin became my guide. She taught me how to stay on top of the big news stories in my field and create tie-ins from my book. It was challenging and fun.

Two highlights: in one 24 hour period I was interviewed on two TV shows in Washington D.C. and a national radio show in a NYC studio. The second: another radio talk show host asked me to marry him on the air. I had to reject him. I’m married. So’s he. But he had me back for a second interview several months later. Advice to self publishing authors. Hire a professional publicist. Don’t try to do it alone. Erin. Smith Publicity. Thanks to these guys, now I’m a brand.

Elizabeth Rose, author of Yo Miz!

American Tales: Stories of America's Past for the Young People of Today

From my first direct contact with Smith to my most recent, they have been an absolute pleasure to work with. My next step was being assigned a publicist, and the person assigned to me was perfect. She was able to take all the information they had gotten from me in their questionnaire and write a terrific press release. Then she made many, many communications on my behalf, which resulted in a long list of contacts for me. She was extremely easy to work with, always accessible, and really of a mind to do her best to promote my book as I was convinced that she really believed in its importance.

Hard Drive

Our publisher, Morgan James, highly recommended Smith Publicity to us, and we have not been disappointed. Our publicist, was friendly, professional, and most importantly eager to promote our book, Hard Drive: A Family’s Fight Against Three Countries. Within the first week she secured an interview with CNN and Huffpost Live. Every subsequent week we received an update detailing who she contacted, confirmed interviews and possible future interviews. Throughout the campaign we benefitted from major radio, TV, and journalistic exposure. Smith Publicity produced everything promised and more.

At-Risk Students Transforming Student Behavior

I contracted with Smith Publicity in May 2014 to help promote my November 2013 traditionally published book, At-Risk Students Transforming Student Behavior. My initial contact with my business development associate assured me that my book and I were with the best publicity firm. Throughout the two-month campaign my publicist produced several TV, radio and print media interviews, which have resulted in increased book sales! Working with the Smith Publicity team was definitely a rewarding experience and I look forward to working with them in the future.

Bills, Quills, & Stills: An Annotated, Illustrated, and Illuminated History of the Bill of Rights

Smith Publicity is the bomb! They grabbed my book (and me) and got things going. I expect to reap the benefits of their work for months or even years. I plan to use them in the future both for my current book, Bills, Quills, and Stills: An Annotated, Illustrated, and Illuminated History of the Bill of Rights, and for the future books I hope to write. I could not have gotten as far as I did without them.

Befriending the Wolf: The Guide to Living and Thriving with Lupus

I had Smith Publicity promote my book, Befriending the Wolf: The Guide to Living and Thriving with Lupus. Although it’s target audience is very focused, I was amazed at the amount of interest they generated in diverse media that I would have never thought of … They are very nice and comfortable to work with, and they make life easy taking you step by step, which is very helpful, especially for people like me who have not the first clue about marketing a book! Thank you Smith Publicity for making the experience of book marketing a fun and easy experience.

Becoming Wise, a New Hope for Humanity: Ushering in the Age of Genius

My experience working with Smith Publicity has been an amazingly successful one. Upon my request, Marissa Eigenbrood sent me a proposal that was very comprehensive and professional, and I immediately liked what the company had to offer. Next came the author’s questionnaire that took me two weeks to fill out, but that questionnaire was a game changer for me. It really got me to define my message as well as my market. …My publicist did an excellent job. We wrote up the press releases the first week, and by the third week I was getting regular requests for byline articles and radio interviews. These requests continued to come in throughout the campaign so much so that I was glad when it ended just so I could get some rest. All in all, I would recommend Smith Publicity to anyone who has written a book and wants to “Jump Start” his or her campaign. They did a fabulous job for me and I will continue to use their services in the future.

Successful Selling Tips for Introverted Authors

I want to commend Smith Publicity for a job well done. Wow! I’m blown away by how much we’ve been able to accomplish together in such a short amount of time. My publicists were collaborative, adaptable, and consummate professionals during every single interaction—whether by telephone or through email—and they are both highly skilled at choosing the best media outlets to match the intended message and audience.

Thank you for the number of writing opportunities you produced during this campaign. I love to write, but it was great to have you on my team when I hit those couple of mental blocks and could write no more. What a wonderful problem to have—too many articles and interviews attached to too many different outlets for me to possibly keep them all straight. Fantastic! I’m so pleased with this campaign and so grateful to Smith Publicity for all you’ve done to help me launch my new book. Thank you for everything. I’ll definitely use your services again in the future.

Play the Part: Master Body Signals to Connect and Communicate for Business Success

Smith Publicity will do ALL humanly—and perhaps even super humanly—possible to support your book, project, or idea. My publicist’s relations with the media were deep and true. In a world of false promises and hype, my publicist was the rare straight shooter with impeccable values. Creative, determined—and loads of fun to boot—she thought inside, outside, and way beyond the box. If you have the great fortune of getting Smith on your project, you’ll have won the PR jackpot.

The Philosophical Investor: Transforming Wisdom into Wealth

Although I was a first time author when I began working with Smith Publicity, I was clear about the target audience I wanted to reach. My publicist took the time to thoroughly understand my objectives and how best to position the book with her media contacts and those I suggested to her as well. She put in great effort on my behalf and kept me well informed. I am very pleased with the results that were achieved and would recommend Smith Publicity to other authors.

America’s Internal Enemy: The Dividers

I had an excellent experience with Smith Publicity. My publicist quickly understood the subject of my book and cleverly created the pitching angels, which even I had not thought of myself. She could also accurately predict what questions I would be asked in an interview. She was always available for phone calls and was super responsive, when it came to answering emails or getting me any info I had requested. I felt she takes great interest in her work, is very meticulous and overall pretty good at what she does. Her work generated lot of interest in my book in the media, for which I am very grateful.

This is No Ordinary Joy

As a first-time, self-published author of a book about a painful subject (human trafficking and child slavery), I was concerned that it would be difficult to get attention for my book. Thank goodness I chose Smith Publicity!  Within the first month, I appeared on TV and radio in five major markets and several national venues, as well as print coverage in several markets.  My publicist truly took my project into her heart, and her passion for my book and my work was and is contagious.  She went on to get coverage for me in many more regional, national and international radio, TV and print venues, and it just keeps getting better every month.  The Smith team is incredibly responsive to my needs and ideas, and endlessly innovative.  Engaging Smith was the best decision I have made in my writing career.

Thank you!

Shock Exchange

I enjoyed working with Smith Publicity. My publicist didn’t feel like a publicist. She felt more like a partner who had a vested interest in the book’s success. She really had the ‘fire in the belly’ when it comes to her work and I feel fortunate for the opportunity to work with her. I have recommended Smith Publicity to a few people already.

WARNING SIGNS: How to Protect Your Kids from Becoming Victims or Perpetrators of Violence and Aggression

We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Smith Publicity run our first publicity campaign for our book, WARNING SIGNS: How to Protect Your Kids from Becoming Victims or Perpetrators of Violence and Aggression. Tenacious, creative, and skilled, our publicist was very responsive and kind as she garnered dozens of opportunities for us to write magazine and newspaper articles, and to be interviewed on radio and television. We highly recommend the Smith Publicity team to authors desiring great results with a personal touch!

Smith tailored our campaign so we would get maximum return on our investment. My publicists generated so many hits from national and regional media that it became necessary to extend the campaign; the additional month yielded seven TV interviews in major markets. My publicists followed their instincts to tie my book to breaking international news, which resulted in a national byline and four radio interviews tying back to Fireball. Bottom line: sales have been strong, thanks in large part to Smith Publicity.

His work as a filmmaker earned national awards and his feature documentary about George Washington, When the Forest Ran Red, is a genre classic. He has also written and directed several films for NASA.

As a first time self-published author, initially choosing a PR firm was a challenge. After researching and contacting various prospects, the clincher for me was when the CEO, Dan Smith, got personally involved. HE ACTUALLY READ MY BOOK and followed up with a terrific analysis, not only of the book and my writing, but the potential market as well. And that was just the beginning… With addition of my publicist, the results were dramatic. She became a personal friend, but with great connections! I was soon doing radio and print interviews all over the country. In no time I had more content for my website than many established writers with big publishers behind them. In fact, as a result of my publicist’s persistence, I was even invited to join the Huffington Post as a contributing blogger. She was there 24/7 in constant communication and totally dedicated to making me and my book a success. Choosing Smith Publicity was one of the best decisions I made, exceeding my expectations. If you’re a self-published author looking for exposure, look no further, hire them!

I was recently awarded the opportunity to work with Smith Publicity. My publicist worked with me and she was fabulous. Before Smith, I had little knowledge of how to best publicize and get the word out about my book. Since Smith, the “buzz” they’ve generated for my book has been invaluable. I continue to use the tools and resources today.

Zero Chance of Passage: The Pioneering Charter School Story

I was very pleased with the services I received from Smith Publicity.  My publicist, was responsive and creative in identifying new messages and strategies to enhance public understanding  of public charter schools and visibility for my first book, Zero Chance of Passage:  The Pioneering Charter School Story. We had numerous print and radio opportunities around the country, including  publications and social media sites I would not have  discovered on my own.  She obtained several appearances and interviews in my home state with media that had not responded  to past attempts.  All of these services were provided for reasonable cost and with gentle education about the world of book promotion and marketing.  I have no hesitation recommending Smith Publicity to others!
